A Night Out with the Sox
This past Thursday night, we went to a benefit in Connecticut where we met three outstanding Red Sox players - the always controversial/never dull Bill Lee, the charismatic Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd, and straight man Rich Gedman. After a very interesting buffet-style dinner, we listened as Bill Lee turned every question into a philosophical or political tangent (he was super wasted - are you surprised?). Oil Can and Gedman were a lot more on point with their answers. But each player made a meaningful contribution.
I brought a Red Sox mini bat that my friend Taylor gave me for Christmas last year and had each player sign it. I asked Bill Lee to write, in as large print as possible, "Yankees Suck!" He was happy to oblige. Oil Can's signature is a piece of art. See below.
